Climate Science Consciousness

An introduction to the scientific history and evidence for climate change. Evidence of anthropogenic influence on the climate will be explored by examining data gathered across all fields of science and across a range of environments including terrestrial, marine, and atmospheric. Students will develop strategies to understand, interpret and communicate scientific information in the context of climate change.

  • 2 Describe the fundamental consequences of climate change on natural phenomena and environments at molecular and ecospheric scales.
  • 3 Describe how energy influences natural phenomena on the earth’s surface and how climate change will impact and influence future energy requirements.
  • 4 Evaluate the validity of concepts presented in popular science articles and connect new evidence for climate change in terms of the scientific principles involved.
  • 5 Communicate to a general audience how scientific observations and measurements made in our biosphere during the past 200 years provide evidence of climate change and other anthropogenic impacts on the earth’s biosphere
